Why Arsenal will not be able to sign Mahrez and Sterling as Man City put them up for transfer

Manchester City have put up two of their players, Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling for sale in the summer transfer window.

However, the Daily Mail UK reports that the North London club have shown interest in the two football star and would love to add them to their squad next season.

While Sterling and Mahrez both contributed 14 goals for the Citizens in all competitions in 2020/2021, they are however considered as surplus to requirements and would be allowed to leave Etihad Stadium if the right price are offered.

It is also believed that Arsenal coach, Mikel Arteta who worked with Pep Guardiola as an assistant coach at Man City is willing to bring the two players to Emirate stadium.

However, the Gunners are faced with financial issues coupled with the fact they wouldn’t be playing in Europe next season, thus it would be hard to convince players like Mahrez and Sterling to move over to the club.

There are also indications that Man City are also planning to sell Gabriel Jesus and Aymeric Laporte, this is to enable them to gather the funds to make transfer moves for the likes of Harry Kane, Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish, who are the most wanted players currently.
