Popular transfer expert Fabrizio Romano in a recent update has explained reasons Arsenal may not longer compete in the race for Victor Osimhen.

Following their elimination from the UEFA Champions League, there is no doubt, the Gunners led by Mikel Arteta will try to make a move for a new striker in the summer transfer window.

However, Osimhen may not longer be one of their targets, considering his expensive release clause, according to Romano.

The transfer expert suggested that the huge amount of money around Osimhen will hinder the Gunners from submitting a bid for him.

“I’ve had some fans asking me about reports in Italy suggesting that Arsenal have cooled their interest in Victor Osimhen because he could be too expensive, or that they are concerned about entering into difficult and lengthy negotiations with Napoli,” he said in his daily briefing.

“Osimhen has always been appreciated, but many clubs are cautious now waiting to understand the salary/commission package, as there’s already a very expensive release clause to take into consideration.

“This is why Arsenal are looking at other strikers, including Viktor Gyokeres, who remains on their shortlist.”

Aside from Arsenal, their Premier League rivals Chelsea and French side PSG are interested in Osimhen.
