Arsenal newest signing Declan Rice in a recent statement has revealed who made him consider a switch to the club from West Ham this summer transfer window.

Rice revealed it was Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta that made him move to the North London club.

After two failed bids, Arsenal were able to seal a deal for the England midfielder for a club-record fee of £105m, surpassing the £72m Arsenal paid for Nicolas Pepe from Lille in 2019.

Rice, speaking about Arteta’s influence, said: “He’s a massive factor in the reason why I’ve come here.

“I know he’s going to get the best out of me. I know I’ve got more levels to go up in my game, and I feel like he’s the manager to take me to those next levels. I’m really excited to be working with him.”

Meanwhile, Rice is expected to join Arsenal on their preseason tour in the US.
