We can’t control this matter – Chelsea captain reacts to sanction
Chelsea players have refused to let the many distractions going on the club affect them on the pitch as they continue to give an impressive performance.
With their latest being their 3-1 win vs Norwich City on Thursday night in the Premier League.
Ahead of their faceoff vs Norwich, the Blues captain Cesar Azpilicueta had said the players have no control over Chelsea’s issues.
“I have to admit that this has not been a normal day. We cannot control this matter,” Azpilicueta told Premier League Productions.
“We come here & we’re focussed on the game & we know we have to fight for the three points. We have to forget about the stuff that is happening outside.”
Chelsea went on to pick all three points against Norwich and remain at the third spot on the league table.
Azpilicueta is one of the Blues players that has been affected by the sanction imposed by the club by the UK government.
This is because his current contract will lapse at the end of this season, and the Blues currently cannot negotiate new terms with him.
Another player affected is Antonio Rudiger, whose contract will lapse at the end of this season as well.
