As Chelsea prepare to host Spanish club, Real Madrid tonight in the UCL, coach Thomas Tuchel would be working on the list of players he can start against the visiting side to ensure a win.

While the list of the confirmed players to play tonight is yet to be released, there are reports that Chelsea midfielder, Matteo Kovacic is working desperately to convince Tuchel to start him in the second leg against his former club.

The report added that Kovacic has been in a race against time to recover from a hamstring problem, having suffered a setback in training last week.

To confirm his fitness, the club’s medical staff are assessing his progress, before making a final decision on whether to include him in the matchday squad.

It is unlikely that Tuchel will start Kovacic, although if his fitness is confirmed ok, he can make an appearance from the bench.

In another report, Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger could start for the Blues but he could have to play with facemask.

Tuchel would want to start him to strengthen his defense tonight.
