Former Chelsea forward, Joe Cole has blasted the club’s £89 million signing, Mykhailo Mudryk for the role he played in the club’s loss to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Blues suffered a 1-0 defeat to the German Bundesliga side who now go into the return leg at Stamford Bridge with a slim advantage on March 7.

Karim Adeyemi scored the lone goal of the match for the German club.

A highlight showed Dortmund’s goal came from a Blues’ corner which was cleared to Adeyemi on the edge of the box.

The 21-year-old forward blitzed past Enzo Fernandez and rounded goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga to score a goal.

Although Fernandez has been criticised for the goal, Cole believes Mudryk is another player, who was at fault.

“There needs to be a bit of blame on Mudryk,” Chelsea icon, Cole said on BT Sport.

“As soon as you realise that the ball [has been cleared], right, switch on defensively. He just lets [Adeyemi] run off him.

“I feel like quick players can lose concentration because they feel that their pace can get them away with it.”
