Amid Chelsea’s improved form under manager Enzo Maresca who arrived during the summer as a replacement for Mauricio Pochettino, the coach has disclosed that his side can’t compete against Premier League champions Manchester City and Arsenal yet.

Chelsea’s impressive as they into this weekend’s games in fourth place has seen some fans considering them as favourites to challenge to the title.

As of now, Liverpool are at the top spot, while City and Arsenal are level on 14 points.

Maresca in a statement said that the teams that finished in the top two spots in the last two seasons are the standard.

The Blues boss said he really doesn’t think they can compete with Man City and Arsenal.

He pointed out that the Citizens worked with same manager Pep Guardiola for nine years, while Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta has been in charge for five years.

Maresca stressed that if the Blues want to compete, then they need that time.

The manager stressed that it’s a huge difference and he is convinced the Blues cannot compete yet.

According to Maresca, the target is to improve and to slowly get close to the top clubs.

“We are not in this moment ready for that,” he said.
