A report has claimed that Chelsea manager and Germany international has told the club to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves in the soon-to-commence January transfer window.

Chelsea could look to bolster their squad when the winter transfer window opens next month.

The Blues have only won just once in their last four Premier League games – and three wins in their last eight matches.

Their performances have seen them drop from the first on the league table to the third spot.

Currently, Chelsea are now six points behind the current league toppers Manchester City.

Tuchel is said to be determine to add new midfielders to his squad, having witnessed how N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic were missing in action for the most part of this season.

Saul Niguez, who was signed from Atletico Madrid, is yet to adapt to the Premier League and could be made to return to the Spanish club at the end of the season.

Spanish outlet Todofichajes claimed that Tuchel has earmarked Neves as an ideal signing in the middle of the park.

However, Wolves are reluctant to lose one of their star men midway through the season and would reportedly only consider bids of at least €45m (£38.2m).

Neves, 24, current contract with the Wolves will not expire until 2024.

Chelsea will face competitions from Manchester United, Liverpool and Real Madrid, who are also interested in the Wolves midfielder.
