Thomas Tuchel reveals update on youngster future at Chelsea amid link with Seria A club

Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel has finally shared an update on the future of Callum Hudson-Odoi at Stamford Bridge.

Callum Hudson-Odoi has struggled to play an important role under Tuchel and the England international has been linked with a move to Atalanta.

Atalanta are believed to be keen on taking the Blues winger on loan for the campaign as he has not featured for Chelsea this season.

The 20-year-old was forced to sit on the bench for the first two games of the Premier League season and that looks like a trend that will continue.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s trip to Liverpool this weekend, Tuchel gave an hint about Hudson-Odoi future.

Tuchel stated that from the first day in pre-season, he saw Odoi on a different level coming back but struggling a bit to produce the same performances on the pitch in the friendly games.

The German tactician noted that Odoi started every friendly match and the Super Cup as a wing-back and sometimes there are these little moments where you can turn your career upside down if he performs like he performed in training.

Tuchel insisted that to be absolutely fair, he have to say that sometimes Odoi has been used as a right side wing-back which is not his very best position but it was done because in the Super Cup match, he had a good pre-season and all the training in his legs so he had the capacity to play the 120 minutes.

According to Tuchel, Odoi waits for a chance in the half left position but he fights against Mason [Mount], Kai [Havertz], Hakim [Ziyech], Christian Pulisic, a lot of guys with a lot of quality.

Tuchel added that it is very hard for Odoi but he don’t have to feel sorry for him. Once the door is open the team demand he goes in between and makes his mark. This can happen at any time. He needs to be ready, this is what is demanded from him.
