This Chelsea’s January signing needs time to adapt

Former Chelsea star, Gus Poyet, has made a case for the club’s January signing Mykhailo Mudryk as he said the Ukraine star needs more time to adapt.

Poyet also said he ‘made a mistake’ with his previous verdict on Mudryk as he added that he is willing to give the player more time to kick-start his career at Stamford Bridge.

After the Blues signed Mudryk in a £89m deal from Shakhtar Donetsk in January, there have been high expectations on what he would help them achieve.

He, has, however, failed to impress at Chelsea in the second half of last season, as he had no goal to his name despite making 17 appearances for the Blues.

“Last year, I made a mistake, and I am not afraid of saying it,” Poyet told 888sport.

“When Chelsea signed Mykhailo Mudryk, I thought it was outstanding,

“I thought, “Wow, what an unbelievable player!” Then I remembered what happened to me and loads of other foreign players when they first moved to England – everyone is different and we all need different amounts of time to adapt to football.”
