Birmingham City’s newly appointed manager, Wayne Rooney has revealed his plans for the club.

According to the former Man Utd star, his target with Birmingham is to return to the Premier League.

On Wednesday, Rooney penned a three-and-a-half-year deal with the Championship outfit.

He arrived at the club as a replacement for John Eustace, who was sacked on Monday despite the Blues sitting sixth on the table after back-to-back wins.

During his speech at his first press conference, Rooney stated that he wants Birmingham to play in the top flight again after a 12-year absence.

“The goal for the club and myself is to get this club back to the Premier League,” Rooney said.

“There is a lot of work to be done throughout the football club but the Premier League is where we want to get to. It’s an ambition of mine and it is an ambition of the club’s, and we are putting everything in place to make sure we do that in the near future.”
