Newcastle United have purportedly acknowledged defeat in their quest for Manchester United full-back Brandon Williams.

Newcastle United are one of a few clubs to have been connected with the young defender, alongside any semblance of Southampton and Bayer Leverkusen.

Nonetheless, The Northern Echo reports that the Magpies have ended their quest as they don’t trust Manchester United are ready to loan out the talented young defender this month.

Brandon Williams began at right-back in Saturday’s FA Cup win over Watford and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer proposed after the match that the young defender could play at the left-side more consistently.

It has been a baffling January transfer window for Newcastle United hitherto, having also been compelled to end their quest in Chelsea centre back Fikayo Tomori.
