Chelsea manager Graham Potter in a pre-match statement revealed that striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is in contention to play during their Premier League London derby against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Aubameyang, who had been dropped out of the Blues world cup squad has not featured for them in their last three Premier League games.

When asked about the prospect of Aubameyang returning to the Chelsea squad against Tottenham this weekend, Potter said that the former Arsenal captain was ‘available for selection’.

“He is competing for a place in the squad. Good response to the situation we have been in.

“He is available for selection,” Potter said at his pre-match press conference.

Chelsea will head to the Tottenham Hotspur game after losing to Southampton in their last Premier League tie at Stamford Bridge.

The outcome of the match has been speculated to be a determinant of whether Potter would remain at Chelsea or not.
