Pochettino speaks on Mount’s exit

Chelsea permanent manager Mauricio Pochettino has reacted to midfielder Mason Mount’s departure.

Pochettino in his statement said he doesn’t know why Mount left Chelsea for Manchester United.

Recall that Mount completed his £60 million transfer from Stamford Bridge to Manchester United this week, which brought his 18-year stay at the West London club to an end.

While Chelsea tried to extend his contract, the England international was keen on leaving, and with a year left on his contract, the Blues opted to cash in on him instead of losing him for free next summer.

“When I talk about the future, it is about the players in the squad,” Pochettino said at a press conference on Friday when asked if he would like to have Mount in his squad.

“He [Mount] is a Manchester United player now. I don’t know what happened in the past. We need to be focused on our players and move on and try to build a nice story.”
