Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino in a recent statement spoke about how important Christopher Nkunku is to the club.

This comes after Nkunku scored his first Premier League goal for Chelsea on Christmas Eve against Wolves.

According to Pochettino, the France international doesn’t need too much pressure after featuring twice for the Blues in the Premier League so far this season.

In the long run, Nkunku’s goal was not enough as the Blues were beaten 2-1 at Molineux.

The Wolves won all three points thanks to goals from Mario Lemina and Matt Doherty.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, Pochettino said: “I’m very pleased to see Nkunku score and it shows how important he can be for us.

“We cannot put too much pressure on him, he’s been out for a very long time and that is why he came on after 60 minutes – to help ease him in.

“He’s a quality player who can score goals and we are pleased he did that today, although of course we are disappointed not to win the game.”
