Palmer convinces England star about joining Chelsea
With the Euro 24 now over after England lost to Spain in the final, players will now take a break before rejoining their football clubs ahead of the next season.
A recent report via Football Insider claimed Chelsea star Cole Palmer has been trying to convince English striker Ollie Watkins to join him at Stamford Bridge this summer.
Recall that Palmer, who joined the Blues from Manchester City last summer was their impressive player last season, scoring 25 goals and creating 16 assists in 45 matches across all competitions.
His top form earned him a spot in Southgate’s squad for the Euros, and he impressed in Germany.
Palmer created the assist for Watkins’ late winner against The Netherlands in the semi-finals, before scoring England’s equaliser in the final.
The winger, however, opined that the connection between him and Watkins at the country level can also be replicated at the club level.
It is no news that Chelsea are currently in need of a striker to compete with Nicolas Jackson at the front and Watkins may be the man.
Watkins signed for the Villans from Brentford in 2020 and has since scored 70 gosls in 169 games for the Midlands club.
He is, however, contracted to Villa until the end of the 2027/28 season, but the report claims Palmer’s persuasion could tempt him in to joining the Blues.
