It looks like Arsenal may be losing out on the opportunity to sign a new goalkeeper this summer as Ajax goalie, Andre Onana has been advised against joining them.

Recall that the Gunners have been linked with moves for Onana and are reportedly planning to ensure a deal comes true.

Well, former Inter Milan midfielder, Wesley Sneijder, has advised Onana against any move to Arsenal.

According to Sneijder, the Premier League club have ‘slipped’ in recent years.

The former Inter star advised the Cameroon goalie to instead consider a move to Spanish clubs; Real Madrid or Barcelona.

With Onana having one year left on his current contract with Ajax, he has been linked with departures away from the club.

“I expect him [Onana] to leave [Ajax],” Sneijder told Veotbal International Live on Friday.

“I think he is a great goalkeeper. One of the top in Europe? Yes, certainly.

“I would rather not see him at Arsenal. It is a great club, but they have slipped in recent years. I would rather see him play at Real Madrid or Barcelona.”

However, a move to Barca or Real Madrid might not favour Onana like moving to a club like Arsenal where he would likely be promoted to the number one spot and also get regular playing chances.
