Newcastle United legend slams Marcus Rashford

Former Newcastle United star Alan Shearer has hit out at Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford for “wasting his talent.”

Shearer believes the Red Devils player will have “huge regrets” if he doesn’t sort out his disciplinary issues.

Recall that Rashford was dropped for Man Utd’s 4-2 win at Newport County on Sunday after he was spotted at a nightclub in Belfast on Thursday.

The English player then missed training on Friday after calling in sick.

Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag has promised to deal with the issue internally.

Reacting, Shearer advised Rashford to get his act together.

He told BBC Sport: “If it’s an internal matter, you’d think something is up.

“There’s a huge talent in there with Marcus Rashford. We’ve seen him be disciplined last season when he was late to a meeting before a game but something is clearly wrong – either at home or in his relationship with the football club.

“He can’t keep doing this, he can’t keep wasting his talent because it’s not right. He needs strong management, someone to get hold of him and tell him there’ll be huge regrets come the end of his career if he continues doing this.”
