Mykhailo Mudryk: Why Arsenal can’t compete with Chelsea

Former Arsenal football star Ian Wright in a recent statement criticised Chelsea’s transfer strategy after the west London side hijacked the Gunner’s deal for Shakhtar Donetsk forward Mykhailo Mudryk.

Recall that the Blues completed a €100 million (£88.6m) deal for the Ukraine international ahead of Arsenal.

Before this, Mudryk appeared to be heading to the North London side, however, despite reaching a personal agreement with the winger, the Blues came to hijack the Ukrainian.

Mudryk went on to sign an eight-and-a-half-year deal at Stamford Bridge worth over £100,000 a week.

According to Wright, Arsenal cannot compete with Chelsea’s spending power, adding that the Gunners now have to move on.

“It’s one of those, unfortunately, that we may have missed out on but Arsenal canno, cannot compete with what Chelsea can offer a player like that,” Wright told Premier League Productions.

“The money they want, Arsenal can’t go there, so you have to move on to the next person simply because we cannot compete with Chelsea.”
