Maresca makes former Brighton star deputy captain
Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, has selected Moses Caicedo as the team’s vice captain.
This was made known in an update by football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano via his X account on Sunday.
The midfielder who was excited about the new role praised Chelsea’s manager for considering him to be team’s vice captain.
“I’m grateful to Maresca for making me Chelsea’s captain,” Caicedo said.
The midfielder added that it meant a lot to captain Chelsea and is a dream come true for him because he grew up supporting Chelsea.
Caicedo’s appointment as Chelsea’s vice captain was before the Blues battle Nottingham Forest on Sunday in the 2024/2025 season.
The game, however, ended in a draw for Chelsea but they retained their 4th spot on the Premier League table.
Recall that Caicedo signed an eight-year deal with the west London side in a £100m transfer from Brighton, including an additional £15m in performance-related add-ons, after turning down a £111m move to Liverpool.
Caicedo stated that he wants to become a legend at Stamford Bridge, and he is working hard to achieve every day.
Meanwhile, with the international break on, some of Chelsea players will be on duties for their home countries in the coming days.
