Manchester United hopeful of signing Chelsea target

Manchester United are supposedly hopeful that a fee of £45m will be sufficient to sign Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid.

With question marks over eventual fate of Paul Pogba at Old Trafford, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to acquire another central midfielder before the transfer window closes.

Spain international has supposedly been told by Atletico that he is allowed to leave the club this summer, and a potential swap deal with Barcelona including Antoine Griezmann has been mooted.

In any case, talks over that proposition have supposedly hit a brick wall because of salary dispute, and the Daily Mail shows that Man United are prepared to swoop in.

The report asserts that Man United are hopeful of working together for around the £45m mark given Atletico’s need to raise funds, but Chelsea and Liverpool are also thought to be in touch over a move.

The 26-year-old featured 41 times for Diego Simeone’s side across all competitions last term, but the Spain international started only 22 La Liga games and amassed a simple three goals contributions.
