Man Utd suffer injury blow

Manchester United have suffered an injury blow in the person of their centre-back, Lisandro Martinez who will be ‘out of action for an extended period.

The Red Devils in an announcement on Friday revealed Martinez will take time to recover from his foot injury.

Martinez sustained the injury at the end of last season but he was believed to have recovered over the summer.

The Argentina star was missing in action during Man United’s recent wins against Burnley and the Carabao Cup victory over Crystal Palace.

In a statement via the club’s website, the Red Devils ahead of their Premier League tie with Crystal Palace this weekend, said: “Lisandro Martinez will be out of action for an extended period due to an aggravation of the foot injury he suffered in April.

“The Argentinian defender experienced a setback in our Premier League game against Arsenal earlier this month. Assessment is ongoing to decide next steps.

“Everyone at Manchester United sends Lisandro our best wishes and looks forward to him coming back as soon as possible.”
