Man Utd reportedly put up non-performing defender for sale at £50m

A report claimed Manchester United have put up an asking price for captain and non-performing defender Harry Maguire.

According to Manchester Evening New, the Red Devils want £50 million for the defender.

However, Chief writer at the media house, Samuel Luckhurst, in a statement on Monday, stressed that the valuation is a bit much for the defender.

According to him, the Red Devils will struggle to find offers around the quoted sum and it could hamper Maguire’s chances of securing a transfer except they lower their valuation.

Maguire, who moved to Old Trafford from Leicester City in the summer of 2019 for a world-record fee for a defender of £80 million, penned a contract with the club till 2025.

He, however, spent the most of last season on the bench as Man United manager Erik ten Hag preferred to play Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, and Victor Lindelof ahead of him.

Last season, Maguire made only eight starts in the league for Man Utd.
