Chelsea midfielder Matteo Kovacic is hopeful that they would be able to defeat Pep Guardiola’s Man City side for the fourth time in a row.

This comes as the Blues are set to host Man City at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

Since Thomas Tuchel took over from Frank Lampard as Chelsea coach, the Blues have defeated the Citizens three times, including the Uefa Champions League finals.

No football club has defeated Man City four times since Guardiola took over at the club, but this could change if the Blues emerge victory today.

“We showed a great spirit against City,” Kovacic told Chelsea official website while reflecting on previous clashes.

He, however, stressed that it’s not easy to play against Man City because they like to have the ball, and they are quite fast.

Kovacic added that Chelsea have great players to play with the ball as well and to match them.

“City is a great team and they know how to win because for many years now in the Premier League they have performed on an amazing level. We need to match that and then we will have a great chance to win,” Kovacic added.
