Chelsea have reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund to sign Jamie Gittens in a deal worth £55 million, the Bundesliga club confirmed on Thursday.

Both clubs are currently competing in the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, and talks progressed during negotiations in Florida. Dortmund have stated that an agreement has been reached for the winger to join the Premier League side, although final contract details are still being discussed.

Gittens becomes the latest addition to Chelsea’s busy summer transfer window under manager Enzo Maresca. The Blues have been highly active in the market, recently securing Joao Pedro and Liam Depay. They have also brought in Willian Estevao, Dario Essugo, and Mamadou Sarr, continuing their focus on strengthening the squad with young talent.

The 20-year-old winger has been on Chelsea’s radar for some time and is seen as a player with significant potential. His arrival adds further depth to Maresca’s attacking options ahead of the new season.

Both Chelsea and Dortmund will now turn their attention back to the Club World Cup, with upcoming fixtures scheduled in the competition. Chelsea are set to play next on July 5, while Borussia Dortmund will also be in action later that day.

As final details are ironed out, Gittens looks set to become a key part of Chelsea’s long-term project, marking another high-profile signing as the club continues its aggressive recruitment drive.
