How Chelsea failed to sign this Nottingham Forest star

Chelsea have every reason to regret their action for not signing Nottingham Forest star Taiwo Awoniyi, especially with their poor form this season.

The recent reports revealed the Blues tried to bolster Mauricio Pochettino’s squad with a new striker before the transfer deadline, with a last-minute move for Awoniyi.

A report via The Athletic revealed the Blues ultimately failed in their bid to provide competition for Nicolas Jackson.

So far this season, the Blues have picked up just four points from their first four Premier League matches.

Last weekend, they lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge.

One of the highlights was the moment Awoniyi ran Chelsea’s defence ragged that afternoon and created the assist for Anthony Elanga’s winning goal.

However, the reports emerged that Chelsea had contacted Nottingham Forest 48 hours earlier in an attempt to broker a deal for the Super Eagles star.

The reports revealed Forest instantly turned down Chelsea’s advances and Pochettino was left to bank on just Jackson and Armando Broja.
