Arsenal forward Raheem Sterling has made it clear he has no intention of requesting a swift exit from the club in January.
Sterling joined Arsenal on a season-long loan deal in the summer after falling out of favor with Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca.
The 30-year-old made the move across London, with Chelsea continuing to cover most of his salary.
The move seemed to benefit all parties, with Maresca offloading players who didn’t fit his plans, while Arsenal gained an experienced Premier League player.
However, despite expectations, Sterling has yet to make a significant impact, starting just two Premier League matches so far.
Mikel Arteta has maintained his preferred attacking trio of Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, and Gabriel Martinelli, leaving Sterling to find limited opportunities.
His sole goal of the season came in the EFL Cup. Despite his frustration, Sterling remains committed to the remainder of his loan at the Emirates Stadium.
Sterling’s situation at Arsenal is becoming increasingly frustrating as he struggles to secure consistent game time.
Given his pedigree as a proven Premier League player, there’s a belief he will need to make a greater impact soon to avoid further disappointment. Arteta’s preference for a settled front three and Arsenal’s success without relying heavily on Sterling’s contributions has only made his path to regular inclusion more difficult.
Looking ahead to January, while there may be potential interest in Sterling from other clubs, it is understood that he has no immediate desire to cut his loan short.
Instead, the experienced winger remains focused on regaining his form and fighting for a place in Arteta’s long-term plans at Arsenal. With injuries and rotational opportunities, there could still be avenues for Sterling to prove his worth as the season progresses.
