Former Manchester United star, Gary Neville, has blamed five players after the Red Devils conceded against Newcastle United in a 3-0 scoreline in the Carabao Cup at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Newcastle left Old Trafford with a 3-0 win, thanks to goals from Miguel Almiron, Lewis Hall and Joe Willock.

Before Hall’s goal, the Magpies were awarded a free kick on the halfway line with the surrounding Man United players protesting the decision.

Former Chelsea star Mason Mount, Casemiro, Hannibal Mejbri, Harry Maguire and Anthony Martial were the players in close proximity as the free-kick was taken quickly, leading to the second goal.

Speaking on commentary duty for Sky Sports, Neville said: “It’s a beautiful strike from Lewis Hall.

“If we go back to the free-kick here, watch Manchester United when they give it away, watch them five players. Look at them.

“They’re just sleeping, they’re complaining to the referee, whinging. And whilst they’re whinging, Newcastle are winning.”
