Former Middlesbrough player, Robbie Mustoe has hit out at German international Kai Havertz, who he said is not effective in the midfield role he plays under manager Mikel Arteta.

This comes after Arsenal’s recent Premier League 2-1 defeat to Fulham.

So far, Havertz has scored three goals in his last seven Premier League games for the Gunners.

The German was unable to make an impact during their game against Fulham.

Havertz didn’t create a single shot on goal or complete a single dribble during the encounter.

“The struggles of Kai Havertz continue and this is what it is, he’s not effective, doesn’t do anything in there,” Mustoe said on a recent episode of The 2 Robbies.

“We said that potentially by making those runs around Jesus to start on the bench by the way that it might be a way for him to add goals and to be effective and this was one that wasn’t.”
