Ferdinand name Man Utd’s best January signing

Former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand has applauded the club’s decision to appoint Omar Berrada as their new chief executive.

Ferdinand in his statement described Berrada’s switch to Old Trafford as the Red Devils ‘best January signing’.

Berrada who the Red Devils poached from Manchester City is British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s first major move since buying a 25 per cent stake in Man United.

Berrada had been part of the hierarchy at EPL champions Man City since 2011.

“I spoke to some guys who were at Manchester City,” Ferdinand told his FIVE podcast on Monday.

“They cannot believe we have got him. They think he has done so much in the game at different levels and has been successful and that it is a really good, sharp signing for us.

“I think this could potentially be one of our best January signings. In the current climate, we are in now, especially.”
