Everton to battle Manchester United for Chelsea target

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti is purportedly interested to reunite with Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly at Goodison Park this summer.

The pair worked together while Ancelotti was in charge of the reins at the Partenopei, and the 29-year-old continues to be intensely connected with a move to a top Premier League club.

Manchester United and Manchester City were both expected to seek after a deal a year ago, however Napoli’s £89m valuation put them off, albeit the Serie A giants will probably be compelled to acknowledge a much lower figure this summer given his age and the financial circumstance.

As indicated by Football Insider, Carlo Ancelotti is resolved to strike a deal for a top defender ahead of the 2021-22 season, and Koulibaly is his priority target.

The report adds that Carlo Ancelotti’s longing for Koulibaly is down to his conviction that Everton’s present defenders can’t work together adequately, with the Toffees boss regularly pivoting between, Yerry Mina, Mason Holgate, Michael Keane and Ben Godfrey this term.

The Senegal international has made many appearances across all competitions for Gennaro Gattuso’s side this term, and his contract is up in the summer of 2023.
