Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has explained why he played former Chelsea star and Italy international Jorghinho during their EPL clash against Man City.

Arteta in a post-match revealed that Thomas Partey was injured which was why he wasn’t in the squad that played Manchester City on Wednesday.

According to Arteta, Partey is suffering from back pain.

“Unfortunately Thomas felt something in his back muscle and he wasn’t available to play today,” Arteta told Amazon.

In his place, Jorginho who only arrived at Arsenal from Chelsea in January started against the Premier League champions.

“That’s why we brought him here, for these occasions and because that was a possibility and we planned for that, and Jorgi has the opportunity today,” Arteta added.

The game ended with a 3-1 defeat for Arsenal who have now slipped from the top of the EPL table.
