EPL: What Guardiola said about Chelsea’s chances of winning title

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has tipped Chelsea to return to challenging and winning the Premier League title.

The last time Chelsea lifted the trophy was in 2014 under Antonio Conte as manager and Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich as the club’s owner.

Last season, the Blues finished in 12th place, sacking Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter as managers, before finishing the season with Frank Lampard in interim charge.

While they have signed former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager, their woes have continued this season.

The Blues are currently seats outside the top six on the league table.

But Guardiola has urged for time to be given to the manager and players to achieve success at the club.

“They [Chelsea] are getting better, every manager needs time.

“New club, new players, but sooner or later they will be a contender as the qualities in all the departments are there,” Guardiola told a press conference on Friday ahead of Man City game vs Chelsea this weekend.
