EPL: Chelsea were lucky with West Ham

Former Aston Villa star, Gabriel Agbonlahor, in a recent statement, has reacted to Chelsea’s Saturday 2-1 win vs West Ham United.

According to Agbonlahor, the Blues were lucky to have benefited from the referee’s poor decision against West Ham.

The former Aston Villa star said it was getting away with murder for Chelsea goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy after VAR ruled out West Ham’s last-minute equaliser.

The referee disallowed Maxwell Cornet’s late goal after Bowen’s one on one with Mendy was deemed as a foul on the keeper.

According to Agbonlahor, among all the officiating mistakes that took place on Saturday in different matches, it was West Ham’s ruled out goal against Chelsea that stood out as the worst decision of the day.

“The biggest thing for me today that stood out was Mendy getting away with murder for that goal,” he said on talkSPORT.

“Bowen has nowhere to go. It’s a foul from Mendy on Bowen for me, it was a goal for West Ham, they were robbed.
