EPL: Carrick reacts to penalty handed to Chelsea vs Man Utd

Man Utd caretaker Michael Carrick has reacted to the penalty handed to Chelsea during the game at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The Red Devils could have won all three points in the game with the goal from Jadon Sancho; however, Chelsea were handed a penalty which became the match equaliser for the Blues.

Carrack claimed that the penalty awarded to Chelsea against Man United during the encounter was not a penalty.

Jadon Sancho had opened the scoring for Man United in the second half before Jorginho equalised for Chelsea from the spot a few minutes later.

The penalty came after Wan-Bissaka caught Thiago Silva with an outstretched leg and kicked the Brazilian on the ankle. The referee immediately points to spot-kick.

Speaking after the game, Carrick said at his post-match press conference, “I don’t think it was a penalty, that was disappointing.

“It’s been a tough, tough week, and I am immensely proud of the effort the players put in.”

Man United’s next game is against Arsenal in December; hopefully, by then their interim coach Ralf Randring would have arrived at Old Trafford.
