Brentford star to Chelsea, dream shirt number, Arsenal intrigue

Most recent Chelsea transfer news takes a closer look at connections to Brentford winger Said Benrahma

All signs are pointing towards Chelsea being dynamic in the summer transfer window.

Deals for Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech have just been done, while connections to the likes of Kai Havertz, Jan Oblak just as Dean Henderson isn’t going away.

Midfield, and specifically on the flanks, is one of the regions that Chelsea are believed to be excited about reinforcing, and Brentford’s Said Benrahma is a player that has been firmly connected.

The Bees winger has been, apparently, the Championship’s stand-out performer this season and has scored a combined 49 goals and assists since the start of the 2018/19 season.

However, would he say he is Chelsea-bound?

The Blues are among a few clubs to have viewed the Algeria winger intently this season and scouts were watching him at Griffin Park when the Bees took on Wigan Athletic.

Said Benrahma got everyone’s attention with a great hat-trick to show why he’s on the radar of Chelsea.

Also, a couple of days after the fact it appeared Chelsea had concluded a deal for the attacking midfielder as he was congratulated on a move to Frank Lampard’s side already.

It appeared Moufi had ‘confirmed’ Said Benrahma to Chelsea move, however there’s been no affirmation from any of the three applicable parties.

If transfer master Marina Granovskaia, close a deal for Said Benrahma, it could see him land his preferred shirt number at Chelsea.

At present, Said Benrahma wears No.10 at Brentford, a number he has held since the start of this season after ex-Chelsea youngster Josh McEachran left Griffin Park toward the end of last season.

Prior to that, however, the winger, who has wore numbers 17 and 18 while on international obligation for Algeria, wore No.21 in his first season at Brentford.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has recommended that Said Benrahma will probably depart should they not win promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs.
