Manchester United are set to complete a deal for Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane but Rio Ferdinand believes some questions need to be asked.

Raphael Varane has spent the last ten years at Real Madrid, winning all the trophies available but that era is about to come to an end.

The world cup winner is set to join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team in a deal worth £41 million and this is a piece of news that has brought smile to the face of United fans.

However, Rio Ferdinand who couldn’t hide his excitement on the deal added that some questions need to be asked as well.

Speaking on his FIVE YouTube channel and quoted by Goal, Ferdinand stated that on paper it looks a very, very good combination, but Varane’s got to understand the English game is very different.

According to Ferdinand, Varane will be playing a different style of football in the Premier League to anything he’s played in before and it’s a question of if he can deal with it.
