Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell has opened up on missing Mason Mount who left the club for their rivals Man Utd this summer.

Recall that Mount left Chelsea for Old Trafford after he refused to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.

His departure has been described as one which Chelsea could regret as he was one of their established players.

Chilwell in a statement with Caught Offside revealed it was because of Mount he made a £50m move to Chelsea.

He said: “As for Mason, he was one of my closest friends on the team. On a personal level, you are going to miss one of your best mates that you spent a lot of time with at the training ground and away from the training ground.

“I think I said it on my Instagram when he left, he was one of the reasons why I joined the club, so of course it’s sad for me personally to see him leave. But I am not going to comment on his reasoning for leaving.”

Chilwell, however, wished Mount well at Old Trafford.
