Chelsea continued their trend of sending players out on loan this summer but one player has caught the eye of Thomas Tuchel by retaining a place in the team.

Trevoh Chalobah put in an impressive performance during the pre-season and was also a starter in Chelsea’s Super Cup victory over Villarreal.

The youngster was eventually allowed to stay at Stamford Bridge and he gave Thomas Tuchel something to smile about by scoring on his debut.

Chalobah was finally retained in the team by Thomas Tuchel with the youngster expected to fight for a place in the team.

Chalobah while speaking with the club’s official website has now revealed what the manager told him.

According to Chalobah, at the start of pre-season, his main thought was just to get himself fit, to be ready to go if a loan club came in for him, but at the same time to give his all to try and impress the manager.

Chalobah noted that things changed during pre-season as the manager liked him and gave him minutes in the friendly games and I did well.

The youngster added that his rise to the top at Chelsea was just about taking his chances.

Chalobah will be eager to continue impressing Tuchel in training and on the pitch as it’s clear he will be called upon during the season.
