It appears the sack of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may have been a blessing in disguise for the Netherlands star Donny Van de Beek as there are now indications he could become be getting more playing chances soon.

Before the sack of Solskjaer at Old Trafford, the Norwegian gave Van de Beek a chance to start vs. Watford, during which he scored a goal even though it was not enough to save the Red Devils.

However, after Solskjaer’s sack, Man Utd caretaker Michael Carrick started the Dutch player vs Villarreal in the UCL.

Carrick has now spoken about Van de Beek’s new role the former Ajax man could play in the coming weeks and months.

“We’ve got ideas where we think Donny’s most suited, but he’s so flexible and adaptable, with two or three positions.

“He even played as a false nine for Ajax in the Champions League when they ended up getting beaten by Tottenham.

“We’ve got ideas for him but being flexible is a strength and a credit to what he can bring to the team,” Carrick said in a press conference ahead of the Chelsea game.
