Chelsea Urged to Explore Real Madrid Swap Deal Involving Enzo Fernandez

Chelsea have been encouraged to consider a high-profile swap deal with Real Madrid if midfielder Enzo Fernandez leaves Stamford Bridge this summer.

Former Chelsea stars Emmanuel Petit and Frank Leboeuf believe the Blues should target Eduardo Camavinga as part of any potential agreement involving Fernandez. The Argentine midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to the Spanish giants in recent months, with Real Madrid reportedly keen to strengthen their midfield options ahead of the new season.

Fernandez, who joined Chelsea from Benfica in January 2023 for a British-record fee of £106.7 million, remains a key player for the club. However, reports suggest his long-term future in west London is uncertain. While Chelsea would prefer to keep the World Cup winner, they are understood to be open to discussions should an offer in the region of £120 million arrive.

Real Madrid’s interest in Fernandez is well documented, although there are questions over whether the La Liga side would be willing to meet Chelsea’s valuation. That has led Petit and Leboeuf to propose an alternative solution that could benefit both clubs.

The former Blues defenders believe Camavinga would be an ideal addition to Chelsea’s midfield and have suggested that a player-plus-cash deal could represent excellent value. The French international is widely regarded as one of Europe’s most talented young midfielders and could fit seamlessly into Chelsea’s long-term project.

Whether Real Madrid would be prepared to part with Camavinga remains unclear, but the idea of a swap deal could become an attractive option if negotiations for Fernandez gather momentum during the summer transfer window.
