Chelsea have are set to be investigated by the Premier League as the football body opened a case into the Blues’ books over potential financial rule breaches during the former owner Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich era.

This comes as Chelsea’s new owners at Stamford Bridge led by American businessman Todd Boehly, reported their own club to UEFA and the Premier League following their takeover last summer.

As of Tuesday, Chelsea have not been charged by the Premier League.

However, should the Blues be found guilty of rule breaches, the sanctions could include a fine or a points deduction.

Recall that in July, the European football body UEFA fined Chelsea €10m for “submitting incomplete financial information” between 2012 and 2019.

When approached by popular media outfit Sky Sports News on the matter, Chelsea chose not to comment.

We will have to wait to see how this could end for the Blues who could also be fined by the Premier League.
