Chelsea Secure Second Signing in 36 Hours, Total Deal Worth £59m

Chelsea have completed their second signing within 36 hours, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano providing further details on the club’s latest acquisition.
Earlier this week, the Blues finalized a deal for Sporting CP’s highly-rated youngster, Geovany Quenda. The 17-year-old is considered one of Portugal’s most promising talents and was widely expected to join Manchester United under Ruben Amorim.
Despite United’s efforts to sign Quenda both in January and for the upcoming summer transfer window, Chelsea successfully reached agreements with both Sporting CP and the player. A crucial factor in Chelsea’s ability to secure the deal was their willingness to allow Quenda to remain at Sporting for the 2025/26 season. As a result, he will officially join Chelsea in the summer of 2026.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have now secured a deal for one of Quenda’s teammates, who is set to arrive much sooner. CNN Portugal first reported on Saturday that Chelsea had reached an agreement for another Sporting CP talent, further strengthening their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
The latest signing is part of Chelsea’s long-term recruitment strategy, focusing on young, high-potential players.
With these acquisitions, Chelsea continue to reinforce their squad with emerging talent while outmaneuvering rivals in the transfer market. The club’s proactive approach underlines their commitment to building a strong foundation for the future.
