A recent report via the Evening Standard revealed Chelsea have recalled David Datro Fofana from his loan spell at Union Berlin.

Fofana was among the first players to leave Stamford Bridge after manager Mauricio Pochettino took over because the Argentine preferred other options.

During his time at Chelsea, the 21-year-old striker made 10 starts and six substitute appearances.

However, Chelsea’s poor woes and their inability to secure new signings yet in the ongoing winter transfer window may have spurred them to recall Fofana.

Fofana during his time with the German club where he was loaned to was able to score only once.

The Blues, on Wednesday, announced that Fofana had been recalled, without any indication of their future plans for a player who has been contracted to the club for just over 12 months.

Over the past week, it was widely reported that Sevilla have been discussing taking over the terms of the loan agreement with their Chelsea counterparts.
