Chelsea ready to battle Paris Saint-Germain for Saint-Etienne starlet

Chelsea are supposedly getting ready to battle Paris Saint-Germain and other top European clubs for the signature of Saint-Etienne youngster Lucas Gourna-Douath.

Lucas Gourna-Douath, 17, has enjoyed in a breakthrough campaign under Claude Puel this term, making 25 appearances in the 2020-21 Ligue 1 season and starting 10 of those top flight matches.

The 17-year-old has earned a lot of plaudits for his performances in the middle of the park, and with Saint-Etienne expecting to raise funds as they look for new owners, the youngster could be available this summer.

As indicated by Goal, Gourna-Douath could continue in the strides of previous Verts youngsters Kurt Zouma, William Saliba and Wesley Fofana by moving to the Premier League, and Chelsea could sign him for a fee of £22m this summer.

In any case, the report adds that AC Milan and RB Leipzig are also watching the Saint-Etienne academy graduate, who has effectively made 4 appearances for the France Under-17 team.

Gourna-Douath’s current deal with Saint-Etienne is expected to terminate toward the end of the 2022-23 season.
