Chelsea Monitoring Crystal Palace Defender as Defensive Reinforcements Remain a Priority

Chelsea are continuing their search for defensive reinforcements ahead of the new season, with Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix emerging as one of the club’s key targets.
According to reports, the Blues are closely monitoring the French centre-back following an impressive campaign with Crystal Palace. Lacroix played a vital role in Palace’s historic UEFA Europa Conference League triumph and has further enhanced his reputation with strong performances for France at the Club World Cup.
The 26-year-old remains under contract at Selhurst Park until 2029, placing Palace in a strong negotiating position. However, growing interest from several top European clubs could test the Eagles’ resolve. Arsenal and Real Madrid have previously been linked with the defender, while Chelsea are now believed to be assessing the possibility of making a move.
Chelsea’s recruitment team is also exploring options on the right side of defence. Atalanta youngster Marco Palestra has attracted attention after discussions reportedly took place between his representatives and Chelsea officials earlier this month. The highly-rated Italian defender is viewed as one of Serie A’s most promising talents, although Atalanta are expected to demand a fee in excess of €50 million.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali continues to attract widespread interest across Europe. Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly joined the growing list of clubs monitoring the Italian international’s situation. Despite the speculation, Newcastle are under no immediate pressure to sell one of their most influential players.
With the transfer window gathering momentum, Chelsea appear determined to strengthen key areas of their squad as they prepare for another demanding campaign.
