Chelsea midfielder joins Strasbourg on loan

Chelsea midfielder Kendry Paez is the latest Blues player to make a switch to French side Strasbourg this summer transfer window.

According to the report, Paez joined Ligue 1 side Strasbourg on a season-long loan.

Chelsea also confirmed the midfielder’s exit on Thursday, July 31, via their official website.

A deal to bring Paez to Stamford Bridge was signed in June 2023, but he was unable to make the switch immediately.

Chelsea had to wait till he was 18 to complete his contract before he arrived at Stamford Bridge.

Paez has gained first-team experience after making his senior debut in February 2023.

The 18-year-old midfielder made 70 appearances for Independiente del Valle and has also been capped 18 times by Ecuador.

Announcing Paez’s exit, Chelsea in a statement said, “We look forward to monitoring and supporting Kendry‘s development throughout his time in France.”

Paez’s temporary exit to Strasbourg is a signal that the Blues still have him in their plans as he was likely sent out on loan to gain more experience.

Moving to the French league is a plus for Paez, who could get a chance to play in the Europa League next season for Chelsea’s sister club.
