Chelsea have reportedly been given fresh hope in their pursuit of highly-rated Argentine midfielder Nico Paz, with Real Madrid now open to allowing the youngster to leave permanently this summer.

Paz joined Italian side Como from Real Madrid in 2024 and has since developed into one of Serie A’s most promising attacking talents. The 21-year-old remains under contract with Como until 2028, while Madrid retained significant control over his future through a buy-back clause worth around £7.75 million.

For much of the past year, it appeared inevitable that the Spanish giants would activate that clause and reintegrate Paz into their first-team plans. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported in late 2025 that Madrid intended to bring the Argentina international back to the Santiago Bernabéu ahead of the 2026/27 season.

However, the situation has now changed dramatically. According to fresh reports, Real Madrid are no longer fully committed to that plan and could instead sanction a permanent transfer, opening the door for Chelsea to make their move.

The Blues have been monitoring Paz for some time, with their interest first emerging while he was impressing in Italy. His creativity, technical ability and versatility in attacking midfield have reportedly made him an attractive target as Chelsea continue to reshape their squad.

With Real Madrid seemingly reassessing their position, Chelsea may now have a genuine opportunity to secure one of Argentina’s brightest young talents. Should they decide to pursue a deal, the West London club could find themselves in a strong position to bring Paz to Stamford Bridge ahead of the new season.
