Chelsea hailed for sacking Potter

Former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher has applauded Chelsea for sacking Graham Potter as he said Todd Boehly took the right decision.

Recall that the Blues owner Boehly, after a series of poor results, including last weekend’s 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge, decided to sack Potter.

Potter left Chelsea at the 11th spot on the table, having won just 12 of his 31 games in charge of the Blues.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher said the relationship between Chelsea and Potter was never going to work.

He added that the real reason Potter was sacked is simply because the club’s supporters have for the last 20 years been brought up on a culture of winning trophies.

According to Carragher, Chelsea fans are also used to changing managers and hiring Champions League-winning managers.

“So they’re chanting at Graham Potter” ‘You don’t know what you’re doing!’ That’s one of the reasons why he’s gone.

“The appointment was wrong straight away. I’ve been very critical of Todd Boehly but I think this is the first decision he’s got right,” he said.
