Chelsea eye this Sevilla defender as a replacement for Antonio Rudiger

The recent reports have revealed that Chelsea are eying Sevilla defender Jules Kounde and could make a move for him in 2022.

According to the report, the transfer would, however, be possible only if Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger makes a decision on his future at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea were reported to have shown interest to sign the French defender during the summer transfer window, but they were not ready to meet the transfer demand on the 22-year-old star.

This is because Sevilla had fixed his transfer fee at £68m, an amount the Blues were not ready to pay.

Chelsea are hoping Rudiger stays at Stamford Bridge by signing a contract extension, but if he doesn’t agree to remain at the West London club, they will make a move for Kounde in the January transfer window.

According to La Colina de Nervion, a January deal will only happen on the back of the Germany international failing to agree to new terms.

Even though he has continued to get more playing chances and remains a crucial player in the Blues squad under Thomas Tuchel, Rudiger is yet to sign a new contract with the European champions.
